Also, instead of indexing documents during the scanning process, you can index documents at your desk, before the documents are taken to a copier or scanner. With this Distributed Data Entry option, you use your browser to key data to an on-screen form. This can be done over intranet or the Internet, and the data is written to your server.

If you use Distributed Data Entry, after entering the data, you click the browser print button and SearchExpress prints a barcode. You place the barcode on or before page one of the document, and SearchExpress uses the barcode to link the image to the data you entered.

Document imaging is now very affordable. You can store 6 million scanned pages on a $150 300 GB hard drive. That's 4,000 pages a day for six years.

You do not need to scan documents that are in Microsoft Word, email, PDF, HTML, video or other digital format. SearchExpress Document Imaging automatically indexes these documents. You just give it a list of folders to monitor, and it makes these documents searchable.

In the scanning process, you can optionally OCR and index paper documents. OCR (Optical Character Recognition) reads the text of the document so that you can search on any word or phrase in the document to find the document and view the image of the document. Indexing is the optional assignment of fields, such as document type, date, and customer name.
